Tajweed
Core course

Tajweed is not a theory subject. Every rule on this course is introduced through a verse you are reciting, and corrected in the moment you get it wrong.

Who this course is for

  • Readers who were never formally corrected
  • Students preparing to lead prayer or recite publicly
  • Hifz students who need recitation secured before memorising
  • Teachers who want their own recitation reviewed

What you will cover

Makharij al-Huruf

Where each letter is produced in the mouth and throat. Most long-standing errors trace back here, and this is where they are fixed.

Sifat — letter qualities

Heaviness, lightness, echo and the qualities separating letters that sound almost identical to an untrained ear.

Noon and meem rules

Idgham, ikhfa, iqlab and izhar, drilled until they are automatic rather than consciously recalled mid-verse.

Madd — prolongation

The lengths, when each applies, and holding them evenly without rushing the end of a verse.

Waqf — stopping and starting

Where you may pause, where you must not, and how to resume so the meaning stays intact.

Fluency and beauty

Rhythm, breath planning and tone — reciting well rather than merely reciting correctly.

Starting level

Can read the mushaf

Typical length

9–18 months

By the end of this course

Recite fluently with correct makharij and Tajweed applied without thinking.
